OUR TRAINING PHILOSOPHY

Shepherd Development provides students the depth of knowledge they need to understand the "Why" and subsequent "How" to maximize their performance behind the gun. Through 12 years of professional and competition use of firearms,  we seek to instill in others the value of wisdom and focused effort in the right areas.

We provide many different training modalities and travel internationally to teach and train with some of the best shooters out there. However, most people know us for our online videos and virtual firearms course. Here's some of the highlights below:

Now, in the world of unlimited online videos covering firearm skills, training and mindset...

Why does our free virtual training course exist?

Great question.

This course exists because we needed it.

Structured training is essential to progress.

There aren't many things in life that we quickly and drastically improve on by watching an inspirational video online. Skillsets require hard work, daily, to make small incremental changes which will amount to mastery in time.

In the same way, the shooting skillset is compromised of simple building blocks. These simple building blocks are difficult to master and perform in unison, and yet, their simplicity remains. A shooter is made when these building blocks are understood and performed together. To become a great shooter we must simply learn to execute these same building blocks in a focused and sharpened manner. Masterful shooting truly is "brilliance in the basics".

Remember, winners and losers have the same goals. Whether taking the first step in your firearms journey or the hundredth, without a focus on these building blocks you may develop bad habits which will require painstaking time to recover from.

Good habits make time your ally. Bad habits make time your enemy.          ― James Clear

We have made many mistakes through 12 years of training with firearms as professionals and competitors, as well as plateaued at many points due to flaws in training methodologies. We have now overcome these issues in training and pushed our skillsets to a higher level. This has brought attention to a clear need for focused instruction in the journey of a shooter. We are not at the end of the journey, nor are we proclaiming ourselves masters. However, we have reached a point that we are confident we can take you to in a quicker and more focused manner.

Right now in the industry there are plenty of awesome shooting videos and tips to keep you inspired momentarily, however there is an absence of focused plans for a beginner to follow from Day 1 until proficiency in this skillset.  The programs that do exist tend to leave students hanging after they have learned the basics and never get deep into the "why" behind the various teaching points presented.

In law enforcement and military training we also tend to see missing pieces in the curriculum that leave an officer or soldier without a deep understanding of the priority of skills and concepts that will make them a better shooter.

This training plan is backed up by experience and an understanding of what a shooter needs to learn to become proficient; using thorough and detailed videos on each concept and skill. The culmination of this material is somewhat of an encyclopedia of the shooting skillset, which allows shooters to reference different perspectives, techniques, and methods.

First forget inspiration. A habit is more dependable. A habit will sustain you whether you are inspired or not.

Our hope is that this program will prevent the training flaws encountered along your journey, whether that is from ground zero or a stagnant period of your own trainingThat said, this program isn't geared towards shooters in the top 10% already.

This training program is not a shortcut or free ride to mastery of shooting. This skillset cannot be purchased.

You need to put in the time.

You need to do the work.

You need to figure out the "why" that will drive you.

We will make your time, effort and reasoning come together so that you never miss twice.

By Wisdom and Effort.

Day by day, what you choose, what you think, and what you do is who you become.
